ANOTHER COMMON ANTI-VACCINE ARGUMENT By Erin K Costello Anyone who spends time on Facebook has likely seen a post show up in their timeline accusing doctors, usually pediatricians specifically, of making all sorts of money by pushing vaccines on their patients. Anti-vaccine activists spout this as proof that vaccines are dangerous, it’s all about money, and that you shouldn’t trust your doctor. The specifics in this argument are almost comical. In fact, I have often wondered if it started off as poe, but became so widespread that people began to believe it. The errors and omitted data in this argument are so vast that it’s difficult to debunk their claims in a short blog post. So, in the interest of a good thorough debunking, this may be a long post, but it won’t be an anti-climactic one!

ANOTHER COMMON ANTI-VAX ARGUMENT By Erin K Costello One of the arguments anti-vaxers will regularly use is that the government and it’s varying agencies (CDC, FDA, and Department Of Health) have been lying to us all regarding vaccines and medicine, as well as claiming big pharma (the pharmaceutical industry) is in on this deceit. They will also argue that our colleges are filled with brainwashing liberal professors who then turn out brainwashed liberal college graduates, and they assure anyone within hearing distance that the medical community is also a part of this grand scheme. Even everyday people who have no connection to government, pharma, medicine, science, or education are called shills if they don’t entertain the ramblings of the vaccine conspiracy theorists. To the anti-vax community it seems that the only people who aren’t apart of this diabolical plan to decrease population, steal organs, or to silence dissenters are the “woke” anti-vaxers themselves. In other words, the whole world is out to get them, and only they are awake to see this sinister plan. The Religious Reasons: "You Can't Be Pro-Life And Pro-Vaccine" By Erin K Costello "But Aborted Fetal Tissue....." This is a common battle cry for those against vaccines. Usually it’s just used as a self righteous excuse to argue against vaccines, often times it’s used as an excuse to try for a religious exemption in the states that still allow these, but every so often you come across a genuine Christian who actually believes these claims, and it may even be their only reason for not vaccinating. By Erin K Costello I'm going to start our page off by writing about the person who helped make this website happen, Kate Tietje. One of the many medicine deniers you'll come across online is known as Modern Alternative Mama, or MAM for short. Her real name is Kate Tietje. She's also regularly referred to as Ktits or KT in the pro-vaccination community. Her idiocy isn't reserved to strictly vaccines though, she manages to spread it around all things science. As a result of her efforts, she has become someone we often find ourselves writing about online. For those who aren't yet familiar with MAM and her boundless stupidity, let me fill you in. |
