By Erin K. Costello It appears as though my last blog post has struck a nerve with a few figures in the anti-vaccination community. I find it to be a bit strange that they chose this post of mine to focus on since neither of these people are the subject of the post, and are only briefly mentioned. Then again, maybe that was the problem? Both Larry Cook from Stop Mandatory Vaccination (StopMV), and Kate Tietje from Modern Alternative Mama , made Facebook posts and comments regarding some things I said in my last blog post, where I shared my personal experiences with the behaviors of anti-vaccinationists. I'd like to address some of the things they accused me of having said in my blog post, the accusations they have made about our Facebook page, What's The Harm?, and our admin team. Since Larry wrote only one Facebook post, that I am aware of anyways, I will begin by addressing his first.

By Erin K. Costello After watching a video ZDoggMD posted to Facebook regarding the Texas nurse who was just fired for violating HIPAA, and after reading many of the comments, I have decided to write a blog piece on the harassment I have personally experienced and witnessed by the anti-vaccination community. I have not experienced any hateful behavior that other pro-vaccinationists have also experienced. I don’t believe anything in my story is unique. Regardless, these vile actions deserve to be brought to light.
I help admin the pro-vaccine/anti-pseudoscience Facebook group called The Science Juice, this website, and the Facebook pages What’s the Harm?, and NO MAM. I am also an admin on the pro-science Facebook page Soldiers Of Science, though I have been a horribly absent admin and do not deserve any credit for this awesome page. By Erin K Costello While searching for post material in the anti-vaccine Facebook groups we often stumble across a post asking for advice on the RhoGAM shot given during pregnancies that are at risk. Sadly, we also often see some dangerous advice being given as a result. Before I explain what I mean, let's first understand what the Rh factor is during pregnancy. By Erin K Costello There is often a story or two making the rounds that depict parents as the innocent intended victims of medical institutions or of the State. Stories like the one presented here are a perfect example of why no one should ever simply believe what they read at face value, and maybe even take 30 seconds to conduct a quick Google search on the event in question. This is especially true when reading such reports found in the anti-vaccine community. This older story was found to recently be making the rounds in the Facebook group Stop Mandatory Vaccination, a group owned by Larry Cook of the website by the same name. By Erin K Costello Too Long To Be a Facebook Post I started this off as just a quick Facebook post to upload to our sister page NO MAM. It quickly grew into something that most people (myself included) would find too long to take the time to read on Facebook though, so I’m uploading here to share as a blog post. Because this was destined to be a Facebook post, it may be a bit opinionated and will lack sources and citations. What it does contain though is a proper rant about MAM and her hypocrisy, delusion, and idiocy. Now that I type that out I realize I should have expected the piece to run rather long since let’s face it….we could find examples of her hypocrisy, delusion, and idiocy to write about for hours. Possibly days. Here, her latest examples are seen in a post she made recently to her Facebook group, Modern Alternative Mamas! |
