By Erin K Costello My first memory of falling in love with science was when I over heated a mercury thermometer while trying to get out of school one morning and causing the end to pop and the mercury to pour out on to our hard wood floor. It wasn’t the shiny, silver liquid on the floor that amazed me. It was how the droplets sought each other out and bonded into one bigger droplet. It was at this moment I became hooked. It was the closest thing to actual magic I had ever seen.
