By Erin K. Costello Sunday night I received a message request in my Facebook Messenger from a woman named Elizabeth Sequoria. She sent me a voice message and sounded quite upset over the fact I had commented on a post. I commented after being tagged in a comment about the trustworthiness and past arrest record of Catie Colbes. The post itself was about a little baby that was rushed to the hospital for seizures. But, like the good anti-vaccine vultures they are, Larry Cook and Catie Colbes had commented to the mother of the baby to claim, in their complete and total lack of education or experience on the matter, that vaccinations were the cause of her child’s ailment. It was in response to their swooping in that another person had tagged me and mentioned Catie’s arrest record. I replied by listing the three times Ms. Clobes was arrested in the past and I offered to provide links if they so wished, but it would have to wait until later since I was on my way out the door at that time. I’m writing this blog post to both call attention to the behavior of anti-vaccination advocates as well as address some of the things mentioned in these voice messages, because I am a little petty like that.

By Erin K. Costello In a new Facebook post by Kate Teitje, aka Modern Alternative Mama (MAM), Kate reveals she is starting a new series which aims to dispel fears and myths surrounding many vaccine preventable diseases (VPD). The first of this series appears to be mumps. Keeping with usual Kate fashion, she gets much of it wrong or omits important facts in attempts to support her narrative rather than the facts. We briefly cover this below. |
