Throughout the last week of November of this year Robyn Openshaw made a public post on her profile regarding the flu shot. In your basic anti-vaccine fashion she attacked the safety and the efficacy of the flu shot. She listed your common, basic, old, tiresome anti-vaccine claims while attempting to encourage her over 5,000 followers to skip the potentially life saving vaccination. Why does anyone care about Robyn's flu shot post? Well, Robyn has been known by some in the vaccine fight due to her basic white girl shit like drinking green smoothies, allegedly being a vegan and forcing her family to eat vegan as well, writing some books regarding junk food even though she is not a registered dietitian or even a nutritionist, telling her almost 200,000 page followers they are fat and unhealthy unless they drink her green slop and buy into her amateur quackery, and she is also known for appearing on Wife Swap over a decade ago when her last name was Pay. Though she did not get chosen to be on a matchmaking reality T.V show, that wasn't for lack or trying. Robyn wrote the show pretending to be an employee of hers named Patty Maher, and bragged about what a generous human being she was because she let some poor African kids swim in her hotel pool (images featured below). She received her boost in popularity in the social media anti-vaccine movement from Erin Elizabeth Finn of Health Nut News. As two entitled white women around the age of 50 they appear to have much in common. They both lie to the public, fight to increase the numbers of kids suffering from vaccine preventable diseases and even dying of such illnesses, believe they are voices of authority on medicine and even law, both threaten to sue everyone who speaks the truth about who and what they are, and are incapable of any realization regarding the damage they cause. Because of Robyn’s undeserved popularity, her flu shot post managed to make the rounds well-enough to be seen by many pro-vaccination advocates. Robyn’s Facebook profile was open to the public at the time, as well as open to public comments. Naturally those pro-vaccinations advocates acted on her blatant misinformation and lies. Some posted on her profile posts, though at first most of them choose to leave reviews on her Facebook page, Green Smoothie Girl. These reviews were all honest, though such honesty can come off as harsh when you are discussing the pathetically low behavior of anti-vaccination zealots because…well….the truth hurts. Here is an example of the type of comments left on her Facebook page. As Robyn’s flu post continued to make the rounds, more people left page recommendations. This was too much for Robyn. As a result she decided to dox many of those who left comments to her flu post or left page recommendations she didn’t agree with. Let me explain this doxing for a moment. Doxing isn’t always exposing and posting a person’s address, phone number, or other personal information. It is more than that, especially on Facebook. When Robyn made public posts to her thousands of followers on social media that revealed the names of those she labeled as “trolls” and “harassers,” she effectively put out a “call to action” to anyone who wanted to act on her behalf. She is telling her public that these people are bothering her and therefor they are “fair game” for her friends and followers to harass or cyber stalk. This is also a version of doxing. This is why most pages and groups on Facebook insist that names and images are redacted in screen shots on Facebook. No one wants to expose people and make them a target for social advocacy extremists. Robyn posted the following posts to expose and dox the people she deemed as trolls. If this was all Robyn had done, I wouldn’t be writing this blog post. This ordeal would’ve been long over by now and forgotten by most of those involved. However, that is not all that happened. Robyn decided to Streisand the shit out of her perceived victim-hood of bad review assaults. Over the end of last week and this past weekend Robyn carried on by commenting and replying to those she accused of harassing and attacking her. She threatened most of those who left negative page recommendations, and even those who simply reacted to those recommendations. By the end of the weekend dozens of people had received a drama-lama novel of a Facebook message littered with threats of legal action, both criminal charges and baseless civil filings known as SLAPP suits, where someone tries to sue you into silence. Some people received this message through Robyn’s Facebook account, others received it through accounts she obviously created to hide the fact it was her sending these threats. There was also at least one disturbing instance where Robyn used her daughter Emma's Facebook account to send this threatening message. The messages, featured below, are almost hilariously unbelievable due to the most blatant example of Dunning-Kruger over the understanding of the criminal and civil law.
It was about this time that the hilarity spread to Twitter. A popular First Amendment attorney on Twitter named Ari Cohn came across screen shots of Robyn’s legal threats, and justifiably tweeted copious amounts of mockery out to Robyn. At this same time Erin Elizabeth decided to learn how to Twitter. At some point she became aware of all the attention Robyn was getting from Facebook and Twitter and decided to try to get in on the action. Naturally her attempts involved bad grammar, delusions of grandeur, lies…like A LOT of lies, and a little antisemitism directed at Ari Cohn. Erin is now also threatening to sue people for…stuff, I guess. This brings us up to the present. Robyn’s Twitter is now removed, and Erin Elizabeth is Tweeting for attention in your basic boomer fashion. There have been A LOT of posts, comments, replies, and tweets made over the past week. Though most have been removed or made private, there are still dozens, maybe even 100+ examples of much of this activity. Though I only pulled a few examples to highlight the turn of events in this blog post, most of the Facebook examples are featured in this blog post, but I haven’t even breached the surface of the Twitter activity. If you care to read more I suggest checking out Erin Elizabeth’s Twitter, What’s The Harm’s twitter, So Ducked Up’s Twitter, and especially Ari Cohn’s Twitter. In fact, most of the Tweets regarding Robyn and Erin can be found on Ari’s Twitter account. Be careful though, if you are anything like me you’ll find yourself stuck reading dozens of Ari’s tweets regarding these two as well as a myriad of other individuals. He is very informative and even more entertaining. Here’s the deal with social media or online advocacy and activism: if you can’t take criticism or can’t admit when you may be wrong, then you are not doing your cause any justice and, in fact, could be causing harm to your agenda. No one likes a hypocrite. Even more than that though? No one can relate to those who can’t laugh at themselves. You have to fight for your cause, not for your pride. Also, if you are going to call yourself an activist you can’t behave like an entitled, rich, snowflake and brag about all the money you have to throw at lawyers. Activists do not shill the latest diet crazes, write fluff books to fatten their own wallets, or expect to never be challenged. The people peddling empty promises, or products without substance, from the comfort from their own home as they block out anyone challenging them are not advocates, they are predators. These unqualified vultures should not be giving advice. Real experts who are legally obligated to act in the best interest of others should be trusted with advice.
Always talk with your physical regarding any health related questions or concerns you may have. Lastly, because I know it will annoy her and I find that absolutely hilarious.... #ErinBoomerNutNews
