By Erin K. Costello ![]() It has been about a month since my last MAM blog post. I tried to resist the urge to blog about MAM, I really did. But, I just couldn’t keep a few claims from MAM and my observations regarding MAM quiet. I just want to grab her followers by the shirt and ask WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING LISTENING TO THIS IDIOT?! To demonstrate what I mean while also debunking MAM’s sorely lacking claims, I’ll breakdown her post from yesterday regarding Vaccine hesitancy. ![]() "In many countries throughout the world right now, people avoiding vaccines is growing." To begin, what does she mean by vaccine hesitancy is growing in "many" countries throughout the world? This seems highly misleading. This growing problem of vaccine hesitancy seems to be unique to privileged countries. There are some underdeveloped countries where this lunacy has spread though it has not spread at the rate in which you see in privileged countries. That isn't for the lack of trying though from the anti-vaccine zealots who prey on these unprivileged nations in hopes of forwarding an agenda that will undoubtedly also line their pockets. So let's just clear that up right now, vaccine hesitancy IS growing, but it isn't growing in a large amount of nations globally. "These people vary in ethnicity, economic opportunity, culture, access to "health" care, and more." Those who are classified as anti-vaccine DO vary in ethnicity, income, culture, and access to healthcare. Although, that last one, access to health care, can be misleading and IS incomplete. Those who are exposed to all the perks of healthcare are sadly falling into the vaccine hesitancy group. And those with no access to proven effective health care and that are only exposed to what charlatans like MAM tell them will most likely believe what these vultures tell them. However, those with limited access to proven effective health care who understand the things such healthcare can accomplish, aren't as likely to believe this bullshit because they have seen the suffering FIRST HAND of loved ones not being vaccinated and having contracting these preventable diseases. Those who have seen what health care can do, and what the absence of health care can do, are more likely to vaccinate themselves and their loved ones. "Many are reporting the same concerns with vaccines...." Yes, MAM is correct that many who are vaccine hesitant have reported much of the same concerns with vaccines. This is largely because once someone considers the alleged dangers of vaccines and becomes hesitant, they then seek out information. Hold that thought for a minute though.... "...and many say they have seen injury before their eyes......The stories across the board are so similar." It is also true that many are claiming to see injury happen before their eyes and SOME stories are similar.... Let's bring back that thought I asked you to hold. When you go in search of information on vaccine dangers, you can find any danger you want there to be. Much like these "injuries" that people see happen or share similar stories about, vaccines are reportedly responsible for EVERYTHING under the sun…..well, everything except immunity. You know how when you see those psychics perform, you know, the ones that talk to the dead? You know how they will start off with "I'm sensing someone who passed with an initial of J or M?" They choose J and/or M because most names begin with those two letters. By casting a wide net they are almost guaranteed to hook someone. Well, when vaccine deniers cast a wide net of ailments caused by vaccines, they are bound to catch almost any newly vaccine hesitant person seeking a possible link between [said ailment] and vaccines. For every ailment, be that cancer, HIV, or autism, whatever, there will be similar stories. This is in part because of the ailment itself depending on the ailment in question, but this is also largely because of statistics. With 7.6 billion people in the world, no one’s story is original. On top of this, when you also consider that those seeking information from these less than reputable sources are told the same shit over and over again, they become convinced that their issue must be an "injury" and must be caused by vaccines. This repetitive propaganda people read also conditions them on what to say before they have even chosen to speak out regarding their concerns. "That they have all gotten into the same internet groups that told them to be wary and they fell for it." It isn't JUST the internet groups that have fed people misinformation and lies. It's largely websites that have done this, or media propaganda, or implied authorities on the subject that write blog posts even though they have no knowledge in such issues (🤔). The groups don't help, don't get me wrong. But there's a reason why everyone in these groups share links to all the other things I listed here above. Up until this point MAM hasn't been completely wrong, but she hasn't been right either. She is cherry picking, ignoring numerous other variables, and manipulating aspects of certain facts, but she isn’t entirely wrong. Here is where MAM is wrong: "But officials would like us all to believe that all -- ALL -- of these people are lying." 1) Officials aren’t the ones disputing the pseudoscience lies or the incorrect claims. I’ll cover the "officials" claim in detail a little further down. "That they have all been victims of Russian bots, sowing propaganda." 2) Russian bots did not do this. Ever since the original news article came out about Russian bots and the vaccine debate the ONLY people I have seen reference the Russian bots over and over again are anti-vaccine idiots. Yes, Russian bots spread anti-vax bullshit, they also spread pro-vaccine information too. They didn't exist to further the anti-vaccine movement in the US, they existed to further the discord surrounding the vaccine argument. The overwhelming majority of anti-vaccine nonsense you see on social media is, I am sad to say, from real people or organizations on the anti-vaccine side. That's not to say that those people or groups don't create a bunch of bots, they absolutely do! However, those are not Russian bots. "That they are all too stupid to understand what's going on or science in general." 3) They are not too stupid to understand science. They just simply DO NOT understand science because they never learned the science behind things like the immune system, viruses, vaccines, the scientific method, statistics, how to conduct a proper study, or the difference between correlation and causation. Even if they just learned how to determine the validity of an internet source when reading vaccine claims on the internet they could cut through much of the anti-vaccine bullshit. "That they all just *think* they know that they experienced, but they are all mistaken or lying." 4) I'm sure many of those who believe they, or loved ones, have been injured by a vaccine believe this to be the case because of convincing factors. Factors such as correlation, anecdotal evidence from everyone in the anti-vaccine movement, and repeated bombardment of anti-vaccine propaganda. Not many average Americans would resist falling for such conditioning. But make no mistake, IT IS CONDITIONING. They aren't lying or mistaken, they have been groomed by skillful predators. "This would be the greatest global conspiracy ever! All these people, coordinated, lying together, without ever having spoken, to take down the vaccine program and bring back disease." 5) I have never heard the anti-vaccine movement referred to as "the greatest global conspiracy ever." That is hilarious! There are people who believe in ghosts, who believe in aliens, or even Bigfoot. I would not call any of those believers part of a great global conspiracy. I would, however, call many of those people who profit from further pushing the existence of any of those things, supernatural charlatans. So, to answer this claim by MAM, the people who are pushing these anti-vaccine narratives and thus forming this conspiracy are those who profit from doing so. THEY ALL PROFIT FROM DOING SO, EVEN MAM PROFITS. But, thankfully, there aren't enough of these figure heads to form a "great global conspiracy.” "And for what? What would they gain from doing so?" 6) What they have to gain is MONEY. No one knows this better than MAM. Her entire profit margin depends on you believing her nonsense! If people trust modern medicine, then she loses customers. If people call their doctor, take OTC meds, or choose prescription meds, SHE LOSES MONEY. **WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK SHE WORKS SO HARD TO DISCREDIT THESE THINGS?** SHE WANTS YOUR MONEY! I mean what more proof do you need than the fact she has now sold out to Walmart. WALMART OF ALL FUCKING PLACES! The company is flying them (I’m assuming the whole family but she does not specify) to Bentonville, AR to meet with a buyer from Walmart. She says she hopes this will "further their mission." What mission do you think that is exactly? Do you think Walmart will help Earthley take down the monopoly held by the "mainstream" or by modern medicine? Hell no! The only mission Walmart will help further is Kate's mission to become wealthy from selling things she had to put zero work, study, effort, education, or time into understanding and creating.** "You have to be a serious conspiracy theorist or a massive idiot to believe what the "officials" say about this. Honestly." 7) How about instead of believing what the officials say, we believe what the EXPERTS have to say. Let me explain: OFFICIAL (noun): one who holds or is invested with an office. The second definition refers to referees, I think we can ignore that one though. What qualifications does it take to become an “official?” They can be elected to an office, selected for an office, basically they only have to serve an office in some official capacity. EXPERT (noun): a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area. What qualifications does it take to become an expert? “Comprehensive and authoritative knowledge.” Ok, what does that mean exactly? Comprehensive (adjective): including all or nearly all elements or aspects of something. Authoritative (adjective): able to be trusted as being accurate or true; reliable. So, to be an expert, one must possess knowledge of all or nearly all elements or aspects of something and be able to be trusted as being accurate or true; reliable, of a skill or particular area. When comparing an expert to “one who holds or is invested with an office,” it becomes clear that only a massive idiot would believe that the officials say….BUT, only a massive idiot would disbelieve what the experts say. If the officials say the same thing as the experts, or rather if the officials repeat the things the experts say, then where is the conspiracy? Only people who attempt to push a narrative that does not align with what experts say are, in fact, pushing a theory based in conspiracy. Before I wrap this up, I want to cover what it is that makes MAM such an expert on matters of health for all her readers. She is not medically educated or trained. She holds a degree in music education, allegedly. I have yet to see anything beyond her claim regarding this college degree. I’ll settle for the name of the college that issued her this degree since any college will verify whether or not such degree exists for a person or not. All it takes is one email to the Registrar’s office. That covers education, or lack thereof. She has no background or work experience in any areas of health, medicine, vaccinations, or illness. She has said herself that she holds no licenses or formal certificates in areas of herbalism, alternative medicine, homeopathy, etc…. Nor has she gone through any classes on these or other related subjects. Her reasoning? According to Kate, “I do not believe that listening to someone else tell you what to think is the only or best way to get an education.” Well, that may be acceptable in matters of interior design, but when it comes to YOUR health, your CHILD’S health, or the health of any loved one, shouldn’t you demand a little more? I mean, would you let me remove your appendix because I didn’t believe that sitting in class is the ONLY way to learn surgery and that instead I chose to watch YouTube videos? Would you let your cousin represent you in criminal court because they watch a lot of Law and Order? Would you trust someone in repairing your electrical work, or your staircase, who didn’t bother to sit through the classes to become licensed or formally certified? Would you trust someone who loves to read romantic novels to serve as a marriage counselor for you and your spouse? Would you trust someone to CUT OR COLOR YOUR HAIR when all they have done is watch some DIY YouTube videos? Would you trust someone to teach you another language when they only experience they have to rely on is Google translate? I could go on, but I won’t. If you answered no to these examples (well, except for the hair cut/color one. I guess we all tend to be adventurous when poor enough, myself included), then why the fuck would you not set the same bar when it comes to the health care needs of yourself and your family? Ok, so far Kate has no education, no formal experience, and no background in these such related fields of medicine and health. But...what about life experience? Well, Kate has largely been taken care of her whole life between living with family and then her husband. I don’t fault her for this mind you! If anything I kind of envy her. Kate has not worked outside of the home from what I can learn. She once made a post about working as a respite care worker, but I seriously doubt the accuracy of her claims since she also claimed to have a background or a specialty in special education, specifically that of autism. Besides this, I can’t find when or where she was ever employed outside the home. Once she started having kids she began blogging, which led to her website, and has now led to her shit-selling company. That takes care of job market experience. What about experience in parenting? Ok, sure, she’s a stay at home mom with 6 children. However, her parenting is never challenged. Her kids do not attend school, so Kate has no experience with teachers or schools evaluating her as a parent. Her kids have never seen an actual medical doctor, except for when broken arms become too hard to ignore, so Kate has never been questioned about her choices regarding healthcare or diet, nor has she ever been advised in ways different than she already knows. Kate’s kids do not have regular social activity time with other children and away from their parents, so Kate has never had her parenting style regarding behavioral guidance called into question. Kate also avoids situations where her beliefs could come into question. She never attends protests, she never speaks to members of her local or state government, she never debates her ideas with anyone, ever. She blocks anyone who dares to disagree with her in the comment section of her public posts on her Facebook page that is open to the public. She never explains herself for her ideas or even explains the links she shares as sources. She will provide a study link and claim it backs her argument but she never points out what part of the study backs her argument or explains how it does this. If she had, then maybe she’d see how so many of her links not only DO NOT support her argument, but often debunk her argument. Overall, Kate has no association with the world outside of her house and her business that is not completely controlled by Kate. She shelters herself and her family. Maybe she does this because she fears she will fail at real life or maybe she does this so she can be the expert in her own little world, even if that world is not at all based in reality. That is for another blog post for another time. Given all this information about Kate’s background, education, experience, and overall life exposure, does this sound like someone who should be considered to be an authoritative voice in any area of life, let alone in areas of health? She can’t even be bothered to sit through bullshit classes on herbalism and earn a worthless certification. She has made no attempt to gain wisdom, knowledge, experience, or exposure yet she thinks she already knows all there is to know that would qualify her to advise you on medical matters for you and your family. Kate Tietje is about the WORST possible person to offer advice to anyone regarding health, medicine, parenting, education, or any other area of life. If looking things up online and reading about them made you an expert then we all would be experts in one field or another. According to my search history I should be an expert in memes and proper grammar but instead I suck at making memes and I think my spellcheck is beginning to unionize against me. Conclusion: MAM is a fraud and an even poor one at that. **We here at What’s The Harm do not sell anything. I provided no links or sources for this blog post because MAM provided none for the Facebook post I address in this blog post. I’d like to see Kate be the one to try and prove my claims as false for once, that is if she finds the courage to venture outside of her manufactured world.
