By Erin K. Costello Earlier today I saw a post on Facebook that claimed 16 people were cured of cancer in 1934 yet no one learned of this miracle because....money. This post was shared by by someone who is known in the alternative medicine community of ignorance. It consisted of a video from the Facebook page Gaia, along with the following comment written by this certain leader in ignorance, "This doesn't surprise me, but it makes me angry. The AMA is basically a terrorist organization. They suppress information that isn't 100% in line with their view of medicine, and/or if they can off it. "First do no harm?" More like "First get the money!" What drew me in was the "terrorist organization" remark. I found this to be in very bad taste considering today is 9/11, and she was speaking of an American agency in this manner, on today, of all days. As a result, I felt a sense of duty to learn the facts about her claim and this American agency. Here is what I learned about this alleged "terrorist organization" and their involvement with Royal Rife. The video starts off saying that a cure for cancer was discovered 84 years ago in 1934, but was quickly suppressed and not studied any further. The video then claims in 1931, a man named Royal Rife unveiled an optical microscope unlike any other seen before. It then goes on to say Rife was able to produce microscopic images that are still unmatched by today's technology. Ok, ...I'm going to stop right here for a moment and address this outrageous claim of being "unmatched by today's technology." We are able to see things using technology that are of an atomic scale, or as small as a nano particle. Let me put this into perspective for you. There are about 25,400,000 nano-meters in one inch. A strand of human hair is about 80,000 - 100,000 nano-meters wide. A single gold atom is about one third of a nano-meter in diameter. By comparison, if the diameter of a marble was one nano-meter, then diameter of the Earth would be about one meter. From 1934 we have seen the invention and improvement of the electron microscope, the invention of a scanning probe microscope, fluorescence microscopes, super resolution microscopes, and x-ray microscopes. The past century has seen amazing discoveries in microscopy. The inventions of such previous listed microscopes is what has made so many discoveries possible. Quantum mechanics or quantum physics is a widely accepted and recognized science in large part thanks to these microscopes listed. Nanotechnology has been made possible as a result as well. To say that this invention of Rife's is unmatched by today's technology is not only wrong, but is the most ridiculous claim in this entire video. That's like saying the Musket, developed in the 16th century, is unmatched by today's modern firepower. Imagine someone saying to you that the muskets used by British soldiers during the Revolutionary War, are unmatched by the Browning M2 .50 Cal machine gun, you know, the crazy machine gun attached to a Jeep used by "John Rambo" in the movie Rambo. I don't just find this claim dishonest, I find it insulting to viewers. The video continues by claiming, "Rife was the first person to view living viruses observing their behavior and movement. From his observations, he theorized that organisms all resonate at their own specific frequency. By analyzing the specific vibration of a pathogen, he could use a frequency to destroy it. Disease organisms were eliminated without surgery or drugs. Rife successfully tested a radio frequency emitter on lab animals...and was able to kill specific cells based on his theory. In 1934, he moved on to clinical trials with 16 terminal cancer patients at USC. All 16 patients were clinically cured within 90 days. Rife claimed his findings were suppressed by the American Medical Association. And that they influenced the discrediting of his research in the 1950s. Since that time, little research has been done studying the Rife Method. Nearly $150 billion is spend each year on cancer treatments and drugs. What would a cure be worth?" Who Was Royal Rife? Royal Rife, born May 16, 1888, was an American inventor and one of the first to help develop high-magnification time-lapse cine-micrography technology. There isn't much reliable published information to be found concerning Rife's life. In 1929 he has granted a patent for a high-intensity microscope lamp. In June 1931, Rife had stated in a profile that his work did not uphold "the claims of medical fakers that they can cure disease by applying electrical vibrations to the body of a patient." Later in 1931, 44 doctors attended a dinner advertised as "The End To All Diseases" at a Pasadena estate honoring Arthur I. Kendall of Northwestern Medical School and Rife, the developer of the 'Rife microscope.' Attendees reported to have seen microorganisms from prepared, diseased human tissue, still photographed and also filmed using using motion picture equipment. Rife claimed to have documented a "Mortal Oscillatory Rate" for various pathogenic organisms, and to be able to destroy these organisms using a specific rate of vibration. According to a 1938 article in the San Diego Evening Tribune, Rife stopped short of claiming he could cure cancer, but did not deny or argue that he could s"devitalize disease organisms" in live tissue with "certain exceptions." Rife's claims could not be independently replicated, and were discredited by researchers in the 1950s. Rife claimed this criticism was result of some conspiracy by the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Department of Public Health. He blamed "organized medicine" for having "brainwashed and intimidated" his colleagues. Why Are We Talking About Royal Rife Today? The answer is simple; because the pseudoscience community found a way to make money of the man's inventions. Rife's name and work became popular due to a 1980s book by Barry Lynes called, "The Cancer Cure That Worked." The book made claims that Rife's 'beam ray' could cure cancer, but all mentions of Rife's work and accomplishments were suppressed in the 1930s by the AMA. As a result of the claims made by Lynes in his book, devices depicting Rife's name were suddenly being manufactured and marketed in the U.S. These devices often came with a claim of curing cancer, and never fulfilled such claims. Because of these lies and the uselessness of such devices, criminal and civil lawsuits began to emerge. The operator of the Royal Rife Research Society was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a murder, and also received 30 months for illegally selling such devices. Other convictions and sentences followed for several other marketers. Several deaths were also the result of the sale of such devices. People bought the devices while believing the claims, and ended up discontinuing or refusing standard cancer treatments. Royal Rife was a real man, and someone who did make valuable contributions to what we now refer to as the universal microscope. He did claim to be able to kill specific organisms using a vibration technique, and believed this new technology would prove to be revolutionary in process of curing diseases. There is no record of Rife having claimed to have cured cancer, or discovered a cure for cancer. There is no record of these 16 terminally ill cancer patients who are claimed to have been cured by Rife's discovery. When Rife's claims of founding ways to cure disease could not be independently replicated, they were discredited by the AMA. Rife then accused the AMA of being part of a conspiracy against him. This information is all that can be found concerning Rife and his alleged cancer cure. None of these claims of curing cancer would be discussed about today if it wasn't for Lynes 1980s book. Outside of related scientific fields, no one had even heard of Rife before this book. It's as if this book manufactured this entire story, for the sake of then selling Rife devices. There's even one article shown on the site, In Shape Today, that has a headline stating, "Cancer Was Cured By This Brilliant Man In 1934, Then He Was Killed." It sounds as if someone cured cancer and was then immediately murdered for his discovery. The problem, however, and even the article mentions this, is that Rife lived until 1971. The article claims he had been killed by a fatal combination of alcohol and Valium. The official cause of death was Heart Attack. The article also continues to refer to Rife as Dr. Rife, though there is no record of him having been a doctor. The article itself is unable to state where Rife attended medical school, or even college. I am unable to provide much in terms of discrediting the claims made in the Gaia video since these claims appear to have come out of thin air. How do you prove something didn't happen when there are no records depicting this something had happened or didn't happen? Why Is It Always A Cure For Cancer? Why is it always a cure for cancer? I understand why the disease chosen is always cancer. Cancer affects everyone in way or another. It has taken our parents, our spouses, our children, our friends, even our pets. It isn't surprising that people would love nothing more than to be able to see cancer cured. What I want to know is why is it always 'A' cure for cancer. Even if we could cure cancer, there would never be just one cure, or one universal cure for all people, for all cancers. Every cancer is different, and every person who has cancer responds differently to their cancer and the treatments administered. Even our modern day infections will vary in how they prevent themselves between person to person. Infections themselves are also different from one another. As a result there are over 100 different types of antibiotics. If it's known that humans require such a large arsenal in combating something as common as infections, then why wouldn't a large arsenal also be expected on combating something as complex as cancer? Why Is It Always A Conspiracy? Why is it always a conspiracy? I understand how a good conspiracy is unbelievably intriguing. I also realize that the actions of any government, let alone ours in the U.S., have been less than trustworthy. Anywhere you find humans, and at any place in time you find humans, you will find some corruption. But, this assumption that every company or agency is corrupt is paranoid. It is also false to assume there would be no profit in curing cancer. If common infections often take multiple doses a day for on average 14 days, then it's logical to assume a cure for cancer would be administered in multi doses as well. Also, a cure doesn't mean a person will never get cancer again. Like infections, you can find yourself with cancer again and again. The only treatment that may not produce much of a profit would be a vaccine for cancer. Regardless of whether it was a one time vaccine, or a multi dose vaccine that required booster shots, there would likely be little to no profit once the patent expired. The thing though is, we already have certain cancer vaccines on the market for specific cancers. The only thing that could hurt big pharmas pockets down the road concerning cancer medications, would be for less people to come down with cancer. Yet, that's exactly what big pharma is working on right now. In case anyone was wondering, the Facebook figure who made the post mentioned above calling an American agency a terrorist organization was American citizen, Kate Tietje, aka Modern Alternative Mama (MAM). She shared a video in her Facebook group, Modern Alternative Mamas!, that was full of lies without even bothering to verify any of it's claims, and then falsely accused the AMA of a conspiracy by calling them a terrorist organization that only cares about profits. Now, I may not be the most patriotic American, and I may disagree with the actions of our nation often, and I may criticize the dogma known as "Statism," but even I have limits as to what I would say or do, or when I would say or do them. One of those limits, as an American, would be to publicly call an American agency a terrorist organization while pushing obvious lies about said agency, on 9/11. This isn't only in bad taste, it is condescending and insulting to Americans in general. It is flippant and insensitive, it is void of compassion. This is just a selfish way to attempt pushing a personal agenda. I hope she is more considerate with her future posts.
