MAM is correct. We don’t become resistant to lettuce, herbs, or food. Well, unless you consider an allergy to be resistant? Though, our bodies will still absorb nutrients from such foods, that is if we survive the allergic reaction. But even allergies do not affect us all and they are still rare. Even though MAM is correct, she’s still pretty wrong with her comparison and (and this is important) in using the word “resistant” when discussing the body and medications like she does. Let me explain..... What does resistant mean? Biological definition of resistance: “The natural or genetic ability of an organism to avoid or repel attack by biotic agents (pathogens, pests, parasites, etc.) or to withstand the effects of abiotic agents (chemicals, pesticides, salt, wind, heavy metals, etc).” Medical definition of resistance: a : the inherent ability of an organism to resist harmful influences (such as disease, toxic agents, or infection) b : the capacity of a species or strain of microorganism to survive exposure to a toxic agent (such as a drug) formerly effective against it. **In cases where resistance is not inherent, natural, or genetic, resistance is then caused when the bacteria mutates. Though lettuce is a biotic factor, it will not attack the human body like a biotic agent (pathogen, pest, parasite, etc..). Also, lettuce is neither an abiotic factor or agent (chemicals, pesticides, salt, wind, heavy metals, etc...). Nor is lettuce a harmful influence (disease, toxic agent, or infection) to the human body. Additionally, since the human body would not be considered a species or strain of microorganism, any capabilities of such microorganism surviving (resisting) a toxic agent (such as a drug) that it once was incapable of resisting, is redundant. Therefor, suggesting, even through comparison, that humans could or couldn’t become resistant to lettuce is just nonsense. In this sense we prove MAM correct. Since medicines are not harmful substances given with the intent to attack us, cause infections, increase toxicity, nor are they abiotic agents (I cover biotic agents at the end) in which we have a genetic or natural ability to resist their effects (if they were they’d suck as medicines), it isn’t correct to suggest the human body will become resistant to medications. Microbes within us can become resistant to medications, but our bodies aren’t microbes so our bodies don’t resist the medications. Microbes are microorganisms that cause disease. Our bodies can, however, build up tolerance to medications, but (and again, this is important) tolerance is not resistance. Tolerance is a person’s diminished response to a drug, which occurs when a drug is used repeatedly and the body adapts to the continued presence of the drug. Though medicine is normally not toxic, there are some toxic substances that can be safely used as medicine in controlled situations. However, our bodies do not become resistant to their toxicity, therefore we don’t become resistant to their medicinal effects either. There are some examples though where a (like some venom), but again I point out that tolerance is not resistance. ⚠️Tolerance to venom/toxin is incredibly rare and should never be attempted by anyone, like EVER ⚠️ MAM THINKS she is proving how lettuce is so much better at benefiting us than medicine is since the body can’t resist lettuce. But.... as per f*cking usual......MAM’s rEsuRch is either non-existent or is sorely lacking. MAM is using a state (resistance) that the human body does not form with lettuce, to show why lettuce is better than medicine, even though medicine ALSO does not cause a state of resistance of the human body. (⬇️⬇️ Now I cover biotic agents as medicines ⬇️⬇️) Oh and MAM, you should know that even though medicine does not cause our bodies to become resistant to medicine, ironically, medicine can cause our bodies to become resistant to certain viruses and bacteria. This medicine is called a VACCINE YOU DUMB SH*T! Let’s see your lettuce do THAT! 🤦🏼♀️ I digress.... **I realize and acknowledge that MAM could have simply chosen the wrong word in her post and in her little meme, that maybe she meant “tolerant” instead of “resistant.” However, If this were true, the fact that MAM didn’t even bother to learn the definitions of two words to understand which word is accurate would only further prove my point that she is a lazy fraud who should NEVER be listened to by anyone, and she should stick to what she knows best; teaching music...allegedly (I’ve yet to see this confirmed)
